123 works fine as a primer on laminate. Keep BIN for when it's necessary, I.e. knotty pine, as it destroys brushes.
If you intend to finish in eggshell then get the 123 tinted to support the top coat and skip the undercoat stage. Finish with two coats of eggshell applied with artificially mohair roller and judicious use of a laying off brush.
If you intend to finish in satin or gloss, you'll still want to use the undercoat stage as the top coats lack opacity. Each top coat colour will have a specific recommended undercoat colour.
