Salamander Designs Spikes SPIKE Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of the Salamander Archetype Megaspikes** The Salamander Archetype Megaspikes have garnered a largely positive reception from customers, particularly for their effectiveness in stabilizing audio racks on carpeted surfaces. Users appreciate the straightforward installation process, as the spikes easily thread onto the rack’s rods without the need for additional tools or fasteners. This convenience is highlighted by customers who noted that after setting them up, the spikes created a solid and stable base, significantly enhancing the performance of their audio components, which can weigh up to 150 lbs. While some users express concerns regarding the price point of $59 for a four-pack, many feel that the high quality of the solid machined metal justifies the cost. The stability provided by these spikes is especially praised, with users noting that they effectively eliminate vibrations that might affect audio performance. Additionally, users valued the inclusion of small coasters to protect wooden or tiled floors from potential damage, though caution is advised since the spikes can create deep impressions if placed directly on softer surfaces. On the downside, there have been reports of damaged threaded rods and issues with nuts that required extra effort to tighten. However, overall feedback suggests that the performance benefits outweigh these minor inconveniences. The Megaspikes have been recognized as a valuable investment for those serious about audio equipment, especially when used on carpets. **
