George Gershwin (Composer) Format: Paperback Piano Editorial Review
In the realm of piano music, this collection of Gershwin songs has garnered a varied reception from customers, reflecting a blend of appreciation and criticism. Many users have praised the book for its accessibility and enjoyable arrangements, expressing satisfaction with how well it caters to both beginners and more experienced players. One user noted the joy it brought to their 95-year-old mother, highlighting the ease of play and the pleasant sound produced. Others shared that the music is not only simple to read but also retains a sense of Gershwin’s charm and originality, making it a delightful experience for players of all levels. Customers commented on the layout of the sheet music, which many found straightforward and easy to navigate. The inclusion of well-known songs like "Summertime" and "Someone to Watch Over Me" was positively received, allowing players to connect with more familiar sounds before exploring lesser-known pieces. The overall sentiment is that this collection lends itself to enjoyable and creative practice sessions. However, the product is not without its detractors. One user expressed disappointment, critiquing the arrangements for not adequately representing Gershwin's works and feeling that they fell short of the quality typically associated with Hal Leonard publications. This divergence in opinion suggests that while many find value in the book's approach, there are those who feel that it does not do justice to the original compositions. Overall, this compilation offers a unique entry point to Gershwin's music, making it a solid choice for those looking to indulge in classic Americana at the piano. **
