Deep Silver Games 1034115 Editorial Review
Metro Redux for Nintendo Switch includes two games, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. While the games come on a single cartridge, they are single-player-only first person shooters that focus on survival horror rather than action. The game is set in a dark, post-apocalyptic world with mutated creatures. While some players may find the atmosphere intriguing, the gameplay falls short. The compass for navigating the game is painfully inadequate in guiding players to their destinations, and the regeneration of health is unsatisfying. Players must collect med-kits and body armor to survive. The game also includes an endless number of spawning monsters that can quickly deplete a player's limited ammunition. The gameplay is slow-paced, difficult to maneuver, and overall an unpleasant, unfun, and ugly experience. Although Metro Redux has an 80 Metacritic score and a 8.2 user rating on 76 using ratings, players may find a better experience in other FPS games on the Switch.
