The 14 Rack & Pinion Unit is the perfect choice for light weight buggies such as mini-rails, light weight rails, go karts, and dune buggies. It is not recommended for full-size heavy rails or buggies with more than a 4 cylinder motor. This rack measures 14 3/16" from eye to eye and weighs approximately 3.33 lbs. The pinion will travel 3/4 of a turn from center to lock, while the rack will travel 2 1/2" from center to lock. The distance between inner mounting holes is 1 5/16" and the outer mounting hole is 2 1/4". The width of the body is 1-1/4". The steering ratio is approximately 1:1. The heims on this rack can be removed by unscrewing them. It is possible to find high misalignment spacers for these heims, however, it will downsize the through bolts to 1/4". Unfortunately, there are no customizations available for this product. Overall, the 14 Rack & Pinion Unit is highly recommended for light weight buggies and offers a smooth and efficient steering experience.
