Marvin portrays a relentless revenge-obsessed mobster who is double-crossed by his partners, leaving him for dead. The plotline works brilliantly as a fevered dream before dying or as a manifestation of revenge from beyond the grave. Even though it is highly stylised, Boorman's vision is strikingly surreal and intriguing.
