The author, Charles Petzold, has done an exceptional job of describing digital logic and guiding the reader through building a conceptual CPU from very first principles. The book takes a bottom-up approach, making complex topics easy to understand. The second edition has about 100 more pages than the first, and some content has been completely reworked, making it even better.
