- The Simpson Strong-Tie DTT1Z Deck Tension Tie is a reliable and cost-effective connector designed to help meet or exceed code requirements for deck construction. This versatile tension tie is ideal for new builds or upgrading existing decks to current standards, providing a secure lateral load connection between deck joists and the supporting structure. The DTT1Z deck tie can be used to satisfy the 2015 IRC provision for a 750 lb. lateral load connection at four locations per deck, eliminating the need to access floor joists inside the home. It fastens easily to the narrow or wide face of a single 2x with Strong-Drive SD Connector screws or nails and accepts a 3/8 in. machine bolt, anchor bolt, or lag screw. The DTT2 model offers a 1,500 lb. lateral load connection and is tested for deck guardrail post applications. Both models are made from 14-gauge material with a corrosion-resistant finish, making them suitable for outdoor use.
