Westek Timer Switches TMDW30 Editorial Review

The Westek TMDW30 Hardwire Indoor Digital Wall Switch Timer has garnered a mixed reception from customers, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses. Many users appreciate its affordable price and ease of installation, with some finding it simple to set up in under 20 minutes. The clear instructions provided are also a noticeable plus, allowing customers to effectively wire the device, even noting that it functions well with LED lights. Features like a programmable timer and a random on/off option have impressed users, with several stating that it outperforms more expensive alternatives. However, the product is not without its issues. Some users have expressed dissatisfaction with the timer's reliability, noting that certain loads, particularly those with switching power supplies, can lead to performance problems. Instances of the timer dropping the relay within minutes have been reported, especially for higher wattage bulbs. A few reviewers noted concerns about the physical design, such as difficulty fitting the timer alongside other switches and issues with readability of the display. While the installation and programming of the timer were generally described as straightforward, there were some conflicting reports regarding the clarity of the instructions and the user interface. A notable detractor criticized the timer for having a small, dim display with no clear indication of whether lights are on or off, suggesting that design improvements could enhance user experience. In summary, the Westek TMDW30 offers a budget-friendly and functional solution for controlling lights but may not be suitable for all situations or loads. Prospective buyers should weigh its affordability against reported issues with reliability and compatibility. **
