The Synology 2 Bay NAS DiskStation DS218 Diskless is an excellent choice if you are looking for a device that not only supports basic uses but also has a lite multimedia function. In terms of performance, the device has a quad-core processor, which is more than enough for the average NAS user. However, it struggles with 4k videos, and if you have multiple users accessing the library, it may cause performance issues. Nonetheless, you can use the device as a Plex server, although it is not a particularly powerful unit. The device has two built-in fans that operate quietly, and there's room for airflows. However, the device is cheaply made, mainly plastic build, except for the internal drive bay cage. It comes with only two 1 Gbe ports, which is sufficient for typical home network servers. Still, it maxes out at approximately 112 MBps transfer speeds, unless you use link aggregation.
