X - The Complete Series

**** "X: Complete Series - Classic 2" is a captivating anime that unfolds a complex narrative exploring themes of fate, loyalty, and moral ambiguity through the lens of a battle between two opposing forces: the Dragons of Heaven and the Dragons of Earth. Set against a backdrop of apocalyptic prophecy, the series centers around Kamui Shirô, whose journey back to his hometown sets the stage for a dramatic conflict that tests friendships and ideologies. What sets "X" apart from other anime is its deep character development; each character harbors rich backstories and emotional depth that elicit empathy from viewers, even towards the antagonists. This is a rare achievement for a show with such high stakes and action, reminiscent of other classics like "Fate Stay Night" and "Future Diary." The animation quality is impressive for its time, with vibrant visuals akin to the stylish works of its creators, CLAMP. The direction by Yoshiaki Kawajiri further enhances the experience, promising an engaging watch. The anime boasts an excellent English dub featuring veteran voice actors, which contributes to the overall experience and makes the emotional beats resonate more. While "X" does carry a darker undertone, including themes of implied boy's love and some graphic violence, the balance between action and emotional storytelling is commendably maintained. The storyline prompts viewers to pay close attention to the intricate details and character dynamics, making it a rewarding experience for those willing to invest their time. Comparatively, the associated movie adaption falls short, offering a less satisfactory narrative and mismatched character voices, reinforcing the superiority of the series itself. The complete set includes all 24 episodes along with an OVA, providing a comprehensive look into this notable work. Overall, "X: Complete Series - Classic 2" is hailed as an exceptional series that not only entertains but also explores deep existential questions, making it a must-watch for anime enthusiasts and newcomers alike. **
