- Statics, mechanics, and vectors are the essential foundations to all who are interested to studying engineering, physics, sciences, and many other fields. Unlike other books in this area, this book guides the readers to develop the necessary logic to solve analytical problems. First, the theory and concepts are detailed with proof when needed. Second, each chapter houses numerous examples where each step of the solution is explained in details. In some examples, alternative solutions are included and the differences between the solutions are discussed. The understanding and mastering the three topics (statics, mechanics, and vectors) good to excellent background in geometry and trigonometry is required. Therefore, the book has special appendices where the basic geometry, trigonometry, centroid, and Newton’s laws are reviewed. One special appendix explains in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic the terminology used throughout the book. During the author’s 42 years of teaching, he listened to his student’s written and verbal comments and modified his presentations and his notes to enhance future students understanding. The materials in this book and the methods used to explain the theories and concepts are the direct results of the comments and inputs made by thousands of students who studied these topics under the author supervision. The main goal of the author is to assist the readers to understand the basic concepts and theories of statics, mechanics, and vector algebra and their implementations to solve problems. To accomplish the goal, the materials in this book are housed in 11 chapters and five appendices. Each chapter is organized in a unique way to explain in details the main concepts of the chapter and to demonstrate their implementation using step by step examples. Appendices are provided to review the concepts and the background needed to enhance the understanding of the main materials. These include geometry, trigonometry, matrix operation, and the general equations of motion. One appendix provides explanation of terminologies in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese. To this end, the author’s objectives are: 1. Provide the readers with as many learning tools and avenues as possible. 2. Assist the readers to develop logical ways to model the problem and conduct analytical analyses. 3. Make learning easy and fundable. Therefore, this book is dedicated to all who are seeking to learn how to solve analytical problems. The author hopes that the materials provide the readers with an acceptable chaperon to their learning and understanding. Once again, the inputs of, and the feedback from, many undergraduate students over many years made the materials in this book stress free and easy to understand.
