- This is a special book. It has been long overdue that a reference on openings appears, that would take account of the verdict of the strongest chess engines. The simple matter of fact is nowadays the strongest chess engines, Stockfish for example, play and analyse at a level no human grandmaster can. My pet Stockfish engine is clearly the strongest entity available, performs at some 4000 elo points, and is free to boot. You can simply go to its site to download it and start using it.Latest versions have significantly improved over previous versions from five years ago, and are able to understand both chess strategy and chess tactics with depth and accuracy no human being comes even close. So if you are looking for perfection, to make perfect analysis of a specific position, or to get useful suggestions as to what moves are relevant in a position, you should grab Stockfish and happily derive all its inherent wisdom. You will be blessed, and the engine's suggestions and variations will definitely look beautiful and consistent.Thus I decided to implement Stockfish for the sake, the noble sake of trying to ascertain what particular chess openings and variations are actually good, recommendable to play and follow, and what not. What should be used and what should be discarded. I have analysed briefly nearly all, if not absolutely all available openings, as well as all the most important systems and lines of play of those openings. Some lines might have been skipped, because lines are countless, as everybody knows, though the purpose has been to include all the most important systems of play, that exhibit specific character, that is, the focus has been on patterns, rendering the learning curve easy.For each separate opening, variation or system I have given the engine's evaluation score, in centipawns, followed in brackets by specific engine analysis output as to what it considers the best line of play, as well as my own personal explanation as to why the engine regards the opening as such, beneficial or otherwise for one side, based on finding and showing specific vital chess board patterns. A centipawn is one hundredth of a pawn material, so that 50 centipawns (cps for short) is equal to half a pawn lead, 75 cps to three quarters of a pawn lead etc. 150 cps would be equal to full pawn and a half material equivalent. When the score is positive, with no sign attached to it, that means white is in the lead, and when the score is negative, with minus sign attached, that means it's black who stands on top by some margin.Basically the layout of the book routinely starts with flank openings and ends with Indian defences. At the end of the book there is also an index of available chess openings, systems and variations, for easier browsing.With hundred openings included, around 600 specific systems and variations, as well as another 600 diagrams, the present book is the perfect reference, allowing you to learn fast and accurate. While it wouldn't be quite useful for delving in depth in a specific opening or variation, because lines are countless, it is very good and useful what concerns the following vital elements: 1) get ready-made generalised resource on openings, 2) get to know the specific opening's patterns, 3) get clues as to what the best line of play possibly is, so that you don't waste much time searching for it, and 4) get easy and accurate overview on what distinguishes the openings, which openings and systems are good and which not quite, as well as learning to make position assessments based on patterns, which will facilitate knowledge-based approach, sifting through the chaff and greatly enhance you understanding in the process.In short, the present resource is unique and not to miss. Don't make the mistake, lol.
