We are just rekindling old wood.The tragicomic story of a curious pair of eyes who suddenly infiltrate the universe of the kappas, who live as they should, in their own order, leading to madness. One day, while following a kappa, our curious hero finds himself in the Land of Kappas, which is carried out in a very different order from the world he lives in. He tries to adapt to this new society he falls into and the rules it brings. However, although he tries to learn his language, culture, customs and traditions, after a while he realizes that the society he lives in and the rules he adheres to are contrary to his perception of reality. The path of salvation he takes to go to his own world drags him into an endless mind madness. Akutagawa, who is famous as the father of Japanese short stories that fear the madness hidden in their genes throughout his life, wrote in this work, which he wrote shortly before committing suicide at the age of thirty-five, showing the current people's perspectives on life, their understanding of entertainment, their fear of death, their family structure, policies, capitalism and many more. He conveys it by criticizing it in a language accompanied by satire. Show more
