- Rusya'da ilk kez 1900 yılında Jizn dergisinde yayımlanan Çukurda, Çehov'un edebiyatçı kimliğine, ülkesinin toplumsal ve siyasi yaşamında son derece etkili bir şahsiyet olarak üstlendiği rolü de eklediği önemli yapıtlarından biridir.
