What is the brightness level of the bulb?

The bulb provides 140 lumens of light immediately.

How long does the bulb last?

The bulb has a lifespan of 15,000 hours, lasting over 13 years with 3 hours of use per day.

Is the bulb energy-efficient?

Yes, it uses only 1.8 watts and costs approximately £0.28 per year to operate.

Would these fit in a ceramic wax burner?

Probably not and they do not generate enough heat to melt the wax.

Anyone had trouble with these exploding?

No problems. None replaced to date.

I need to replace a 240v 28w bulb used for a table lamp. Will these be suitable?

These are 40W equivalent, so that's more than your 28W. There should be a label on your lamp saying what the maximum wattage can be. If there isn't a label I wouldn't risk this stronger bulb.

Is there much writing on the side of the bulb? Is it noticeable?

There is writing all round the base, and yes, it is quite noticeable.

Can I use it with a solar powered?

I imagine so as the solar power enters your house as electricity just like grid electricity.

Sorry no, if you try they will keep flickering.

Do these bulbs get hot inside a lamp?

No, they are warm to the touch but not hot, I use mine in paper shades with no issues.
